Branson: Most people come for the entertainment, but some stay for the lifestyle. This is a great place for both.
The axiom in real estate is “location, location, location”! Well, Branson is the location. This part of the country is called the “Heart of the Ozarks”. In fact, Branson is within a day’s drive of 50% of the U.S. population. You can’t get any more central than that!
The Branson/Tri-Lakes area serves up to 65,000 visitors daily who pump 1.5 billion dollars into the local economy. It is situated 35 miles south of Springfield and serves as the job, service and shopping center for Taney and Stone Counties. The population is about 70,000 year round area residents.
Entertainment is everywhere in the Branson area from theater shows to boating, fishing and swimming in Tablerock Lake, but what about infrastructure? Healthcare is usually a big concern of those choosing a new community. Skaggs Hospital offers a wide range of services from Acute Rehabilitation, Cardiopulmonary and Diabetes & Weight Management to Medical Imaging, Surgery and Urgent Care. Click here for a more complete list. Skaggs maintains the highest national accreditation available for medical facilities from the JCAH.
The Springfield area has several major health system providers, Cox Health, St. Johns, Oxford, Family Medical and Mercy. All provide excellent services.
Shopping is another major draw beside the entertainment. The newest shopping area is Branson Landing. But there are several outlet malls plus over 250 other places to shop from chain stores to local Mom & Pop shops.
Our area schools make us proud. Principal Dawson of the Branson School District was named one of the nation's best in October 2010. Branson West and Kimberling City students attend the award-winning school, Reeds Spring Public School District. Other area schools include Hollister, Kirbyville, Forsyth, Blue Eye and Galena. Nearby colleges and universities include College of the Ozarks, Springfield College, Ozarks Technical Community College, and Missouri State University to name just a few.
Public transportation services include taxis, trolleys and buses. Rural folks even have public transportation available to them via the OATS "Way2Go" system. This system runs on a flexible fixed route with designated stops in Galena, Abesville, Reeds Spring, Branson West, and Silver Dollar City, the University of Missouri Extension Office parking lot in Galena, Living Waters United Pentecostal Church in Abesville, and at "the spring" in Reeds Spring. And for a fun trip, take the Branson Scenic Railway.
